Who is Lieutenant Dan?
I’m really talking about Danny Goodier who is a marching staff member of the 2016 kidsgrove scouts.
Why do I call him Lieutenant Dan you may ask? Well, 2015 was the first time I marched Trumpet for Kidsgrove after being part of the Brass Staff for a number of years. We started to learn the drill for the opener and after a few reps it was obvious that Visual Caption Head Rob Swindells had assigned Visual Tech Danny Goodier to assist me.
The pressure was really on because Danny has eyes like a hawk and is really specific about what he wants from the marching members. It was at that moment I discovered how great a teacher Danny is. He not only teaches you the theory of marching, but he is so good at marching he makes you feel sick. That old adage ‘Those who can’t DO teach’ does NOT apply to Danny Goodier. So the reason I call him Lieutenant Dan is because he prepared me for war on the Drum Corps field.
