I was in the fortunate position of being hired to shoot at the 2016 Winter Guard United Kingdom or WGUK for short. I did a lot of research and compared my style of photography with some of the best Winter Guard photographers all over the world. It seems that many of them reside in the U.S. I then asked myself the question, “what i can i do that no other photographers are doing when they photograph winterguard?”
I came up with the idea to photograph the staff and the interaction they have with the members and officials just before their guard performs. Some are nervous and some are completely relaxed, probably because they know they’ve done as much as they can over the season. The rest is now up to the members.
